Lebanon Reports Siege of Journalists in South Amid Israeli Strikes
The agency reported that “Israeli occupation forces are besieging journalists Amal Khalil and Zeinab Faraj, and preventing the Red Cross and the Lebanese army from reaching them,” according to reports.
The situation reportedly developed after an Israeli airstrike struck a vehicle in the same area, killing two people inside, the agency said.
In a subsequent update, the news agency stated that a second airstrike in At-Tiri wounded several individuals, including journalists, though it did not specify the number of casualties.
According to reports, a separate strike also hit the main road connecting At-Tiri with Haddatha, allegedly hindering ambulance teams from reaching the affected journalists.
Lebanese Information Minister Paul Morcos said he is coordinating with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese army regarding the situation. On social media platform X, he condemned the incident and held Israel responsible for the safety of those involved, calling for immediate protection measures and stressing the need to safeguard media freedom, according to reports.
